Old South Country Club, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in southern Anne Arundel County, town of Lothian, Maryland.
The golf course at Old South Country Club first opened for play in 1991. The course was designed by Lindsay Ervin.
Old South derived its name from the founding group who owned a fitness club with the same name and envisioned a spectacular golf course overlooked by a majestic clubhouse built in the style and tradition of a southern mansion. The clubhouse was erected in 1991.
The golf course at Old South Country Club is a well-maintained course. The course has very quick greens that are sloped. The fairways have moderate speed, and out-of-bounds markers come into play on two holes.
Old South Country Club plays to 6,723 yards from the back tees. Par for the course is 72 . The course rating is 73.3 and the slope rating is 134.
The signature hole at Old South Country Club is #18, a 480-yard, par 5, providing some of the most breathtaking scenery the course has to offer. The Old South course is an annual host of the Mid Atlantic PGA Championships.

Don't bring a driver, it will get you into trouble and you won't need it. The rough is very thick, but not too deep. You will probably score well the second time you play it, but not the first.

I have been a member of Old South for three years. The conditions are always outstanding compared to other courses in our area. I play 100+ rounds a year and most rounds are on other courses locally so I have some direct knowledge of this. The course is always challenging even for my guests who are occasionally plus handicaps. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable, and the membership is talented enough that the longest rounds are never more than 4:15, with many being in the three hour range for a twosome. The layout is generally a shot placement style but also encourages being aggressive at times. The greens can be tricky but not punishing. Approach shots require some greens knowledge so most of my guests fare much better the second time they play. I am lucky to be a member!
